01/31/2023 - Dues are DUE by Jan. 31st!!

Tuesday January 31, 2023
Money money money

This is a reminder that Annual Dues are due (postmarked) by 1/31 in order to participate in the P4M Program. Annual INDIVIDUAL Membership dues are $10.00, and are the same for a FAMILY membership. An individual membership allows for 1 person to pick plants at the annual Plants for Members Distribution meeting (as long as the rest of the requirements have been met), and a family membership does the same. If more than one person in the family wants to grow plants that are distributed through the Plants for Members program, each individual must have a membership to the club (i.e. 1 member picking = 1 FAMILY membership, but 2 family members picking would require 1 INDIVIDUAL membership and 1 FAMILY (or a 2nd INDIVIDUAL) membership.)

If you are not a member of the club but would like to join and get involved, we would be more than happy to provide you with the membership registration form and talk to you about this fantastic club!! Please email the club account at charlottesvilledaylilyclub@gmail.com for additional information and a membership form. (For security purposes, we do not have the membership form attached to this event as it has a mailing address on it, but we will email you the form upon request.)

Dues can be paid at an upcoming meeting, or mailed to Christina Lawrence (Treasurer.) Again, please be aware that current memberships must be paid by January 31st in order to be eligible for the Plants For Members Program.

03/19/2023 - Predators and Parasitoids in the Garden

Sunday March 19, 2023

SPEAKER MEETING: Don’t jump to conclusions when you see insects in your garden—many are providing free pest management! Insects, like lady beetles, lacewings, wasps, mantids, and more, are worth getting to know. In addition to reducing pest populations, many insect predators have fascinating life histories that enhance the complexity and wonder of our gardens. We will be participating in a Zoom meeting provided by Fulton County Extension Agent and entomologist Gabrielle LaTora. She will cover common insect predators in the garden and easy ways we can conserve them.

LOCATION: Hadensville Fire Co #6 - 4810 Three Chopt Rd, Louisa, VA 23093. (Go South on Rt 606 just west of Duke's Auto, to the parking lot entrance on your left.) The meeting room is on the southwest side of the building, going in the door farthest to the right when facing the building.

MEETING SCHEDULE:
1:00PM - Potluck Luncheon and social hour. Bring your favorite dish to share! Hospitality (bottled water, plates, cutlery, etc.) will be provided by the club.
2:00PM - Zoom Meeting promptly at 2pm, with business meeting conducted afterward.

08/06/2023 - ChDC Fall Picnic @ Woodhenge Gardens

Sunday August 6, 2023

The FALL PICNIC AND SOCIAL is @ Woodhenge Gardens on SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2023. This is a combination club social, and will include members from the Southern Virginia Daylily Club and Richmond Area Daylily Club as well as the Charlottesville Club. We don't usually have the opportunity to get three area clubs together, so this is a great time to meet others that have the same interests, and to see some very unique plants as well.

ADDRESS and directions can be found at Woodhengegardens.com. Carpooling from US 29 and Plank Road shopping center is recommended as parking is tight at the top of the hill at Jim and Margo's.

PICNIC SOCIAL: 11:00-2:30pm - best guess regarding this timing...

Bring your lawn chairs, a dish for the potluck luncheon, and enjoy a social afternoon in the gardens. The clubs will provide a main dish and general hospitality items (bottled water, plates and cutlery, etc.) ANYONE PLANNING TO PARTAKE IN THE POTLUCK SOCIAL is asked to bring a side dish or dessert to place on the community table for all to enjoy.

NOTE: Because this is a multi-club social, there will be no actual "call to order" meeting, so please make sure to sign in on the appropriate attendance sheet for the club(s) that you belong to.
