10/03/2021 - ChDC Fall Picnic @ The Glass House Winery

Sunday October 3, 2021
Glass House Winery Berto-Vincent-290x243 GHWMap1 Chocolate - Glass House GHatSunset-1024x768 GlassandBirdofParadise-768x428

A wonderful Fall picnic at the Glass House Winery -
Glass House Winery
5898 Free Union Road
Free Union, Virginia 22940

Time: 2:00pm - Since we are not doing a potluck social, we will meet at 2pm (Note, this is an hour later than normal meeting time because there is no potluck hour!!!) You can bring your own lunch, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy, and your lawn chairs to sit comfortably.

There will be a guitar duo playing at the Winery from 3pm - 5:30pm on Sunday, October 2nd. A little details regards the music - Beleza Music:
Turn up the heat on your Sunday Fun Day plans with the spicy rhythms, zesty beats, and sizzling sounds of our favorite Latin and Gipsy Rumba Guitar Duo – Berto Sales and Vincent Zorn. Returning to our slice of paradise here in Free Union on Sunday, October 3rd, from 3 to 5:30pm. Open to all, no cover.
More on the musicians:
Berto of Beleza Music – https://www.facebook.com/BelezaMusic/
Vincent Zorn – Charlottesville Virginia Rumba Flamenco Guitarist – https://www.facebook.com/vincent.zorn/

Don't forget about touring the glass house while you are there, tasting the wines if you are interested, and checking out their delicious chocolates.

AGAIN, A NOTE: You are permitted to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages to the winery, and of course can bring your lawn chairs and such. There are picnic tables (based on the website) scattered around, but if it's the same as at other wineries, they are 4 person tables and are distanced apart. Since we are each bringing our own food and such (no hospitality provided for this event), we shouldn't need any large set-up.

*Hoping to see all members possible at the Glass House Winery for a picnic/social gathering. If we don't see you there, the next meeting will be held at the Hadensville Fire Hall - November 14th - and will be our Fall Speaker meeting, elections, and 2022 planning meeting. Please be considering which office you will step up to serve in if you are not currently serving in an officer's position. The glue that binds this club together is it's members, and we greatly appreciate all that each member does for the club. The officers currently serving have served for a while and it's time for new blood in those positions!!! Thanks so much!

11/14/2021 - Ray Quinn Speaker meeting and 2022 Planning Meeting

Sunday November 14, 2021
Quinn - front porch view 2019

Ray and Wanda Quinn will be presenting the Quinn daylily hybridizing program. In recent years, Ray's interest has moved more toward big and showy UF’s, dips and tets, while Wanda’s interest is more toward small flowers, with a leaning toward plants and colors that will work well in beds with other perennials. Clear appealing color has always been an important goal for both of them. Ray and Wanda are reasonably close, just over the North Carolina border, and they bring a wealth of information and experience growing daylilies in our climate.

LOCATION: Hadensville Fire Co #6 - 4810 Three Chopt Rd, Louisa, VA 23093. The fire hall is the big building behind this location, meeting room is on the west side of the building, going in the door farthest to the right when facing the building. Please email ajbowa@gmail.com for directions and additional information if needed.

TIME: There will be NO POTLUCK LUNCHEON FOR THIS MEETING, but everyone is welcome to bring food and drinks for their own enjoyment. There will be bottled water at the meeting as well. We will open the building at 1:30pm, and the meeting will start at 2pm. Speaker meeting first, and then the regular business meeting afterward so that the Quinns can get back on the road toward home. Reminder that this is a planning meeting for events for the next year. Suggestions for speakers and other events are welcome as always!! Also, we will need a volunteer or two for Summer Open Gardens like Tena, Louise, Deb, Margo & Jim did this year!

01/31/2022 - Dues are DUE by Jan. 31st!!

Monday January 31, 2022
Money money money

This is a reminder that Annual Dues are due (postmarked) by 1/31 in order to participate in the P4M Program. Annual INDIVIDUAL Membership dues are $10.00, and are the same for a FAMILY membership. An individual membership allows for 1 person to pick plants at the annual Plants for Members Distribution meeting (as long as the rest of the requirements have been met), and a family membership does the same. If more than one person in the family wants to grow plants that are distributed through the Plants for Members program, each individual must have a membership to the club (i.e. 1 member picking = 1 FAMILY membership, but 2 family members picking would require 1 INDIVIDUAL membership and 1 FAMILY (or a 2nd INDIVIDUAL) membership.)

If you are not a member of the club but would like to join and get involved, we would be more than happy to provide you with the membership registration form and talk to you about this fantastic club!! Please email the club account at charlottesvilledaylilyclub@gmail.com for additional information and a membership form. (For security purposes, we do not have the membership form attached to this event as it has a mailing address on it, but we will email you the form upon request.)

Dues can be paid at an upcoming meeting, or mailed to Christina Lawrence (Treasurer) or Angie Bowald (Vice President.) Again, please be aware that current memberships must be paid by January 31st in order to be eligible for the Plants For Members Program.
