ChDC - Charlottesville Daylily Club Meeting November 12, 2023

Minutes:
The club met at the Hadensville Fire Dept at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
13 members were in attendance and enjoyed a potluck lunch. See attached list.
We were unable to present the program from Northern Lights Daylilies due to technical difficulties.
The business meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by our Vice President Shirley Shelton. President Aimee Buchanan was unable to attend due to a death in the family.
The first order of business was to elect new officers for the coming year. Margo Reed volunteered to run for President, and Carol Sarginger agreed to serve as Treasurer. Aimee Buchanan agreed to run for Secretary. Dave Sarginger offered to serve as Vice President. With no other candidates volunteering, we voted unanimously to accept the slate of candidates. To summarize:
President: Margo Reed
Vice President: Dave Sarginger
Treasurer: Carol Sarginger
Secretary: Aimee Buchanan

Angie Bowald will continue to serve as Webmaster and as the Chair of the Plants for Members Committee.

The Treasurer’s Report was provided and presented by Shirley Shelton (Redacted). Members voted to add Carol Sarginger (new treasurer) to the checking account, and to remove Christina Lawrence (former treasurer) from the checking account. Also discussed was the importance of always having two members with check-signing ability on the account. Shirley Shelton (who may currently be on the account) agreed to be the second signer. Members in attendance worked on a program schedule for 2024. Tentative dates are as follows;
January 7 – Our Holiday Party and gift exchange activities, and a presentation of the Daylily programs of Mike Grossman and Kathleen Nordstrom of Northern Lights Daylilies in MN.
March 10 – Speaker meeting
April 28 – Plants for Members Distribution meeting
June 15 - Multi-club Garden event and picnic at garden of Tena and Pete Felts
(June 15 – National Convention in Oklahoma City)
(June 22 – RADS Daylily Flower Show)
(June 28-30 Region 3 Summer Meeting in N. Va and MD)
Date? Angie Bowald Open Garden (POST MEETING ADJUSTED INFO: tentative date is June 30)
July 7 – Woodhenge Gardens Open Garden + Jim Dugan?
August 25 – ChDC Auction of PFM plants and sale
October ? – Club Hypertufa container making activity - (POST MEETING ADJUSTED INFO: Aimee Buchanan or Woodhenge Gardens, SATURDAY October 12 as it will need to be an early start in order to avoid any afternoon heat, and not conflict with religious functions on Sunday)
November 10 – Speaker Meeting
(October 25-26 – Lilyhemmer 2024)

There was a short discussion of the possibility of planning at least one meeting a year in the Shenandoah Valley (Harrisonburg?) to accommodate our members living in the valley. (Ali, Aimee, John Daly, Debbie W., etc.)

The business meeting was adjourned at 3:30 and followed by a fun cookie exchange with everyone participating.
